Guys, Making your fibre choice now is a little more problematical than it was last year. Its interesting to see what the hyper scale data centres are now doing and how the new 100G "lite" 500m SM duplex costs have been slashed by x10 through some smart re-engineering of the 10km 100G SM transceiver. There is also a panel discussion at the 10.25 min point in the following video were various large data centre players describe how they do things.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB0PsIkbQ94 One thing that is clear is that SM fibre transceivers are rapidly falling in price. Some of the big hyper scale players are now aggressively eliminating MM fibres. I also discovered recently that Google invested $38m into a fibre transceiver manufacturer in China. Hope this helps show the new trends so it helps with your strategic fibre decisions.
