My g grandfather James WILSON reputed to have been born on 12th February 1843
in Omagh, Co Tyrone,
son of Matthew WILSON and Mary NEWBERRY or MACONNELL.

James is said to have emigrated to Brisbane, Australia in 1862 aboard “Duke of
Newcastle” but there is no evidence
of this on the passenger or crew list of that ship.

DNA results connect Matthew WILSON with the Wilsons from the Enniskillen area
of Co. Fermanagh.

In Australia, James married Louisa MORROW (d/o Robert MORROW and Arabella
ARMSTRONG) both from Fermanagh.
Their children were named:

Mary Ann (after ? - possibly the paternal grandmother)
James Ernest (after the father)
Arabella Jane (after the maternal grandmother)
Robert Arthur (after the maternal grandfather)
Louise Adelaide (after the mother)

James’ Death Certificate stated his mother’s name was “Newberry” but his
Marriage Certificate says “Maconnell”.
The name “Newberry/Newbury/Newburgh” was used by the Enniskillen Wilsons as a
forename quite often.

James and his father Matthew Wilson are my huge brick wall.

Margaret in Oz.
