Belfast Commercial Chronicle 8 Jan. 1817 MARRIAGES On the 3rd inst. in St. Ann’s Church by the Rev. John Brown, Edward ATKINSON Esq. of Drumcree in the Co. Armagh, to Jane, only daughter of the late Matthew ANDREW of Belfast. On the 2nd inst. by the Rev. Mr. Cowan, Mr. R. W. OSWALD of Dromore, to Miss M. CARTER of Coagh. Co. Tyrone. On Saturday, in Monkstown Church by the Rev Dr. Kyle, Henry KYLE of the Commercial Buildings, Dublin, to Miss MILLER, daughter of the late Rev. Oliver MILLER, of Prospect, Black-rock. DEATHS On Monday last, Mr Richard WOLFENDEN Sr. aged 59 years On the 5th inst. Mr. James WARD, Malone, aged 97 On the 30th ult. Mr. William M'ELWAIN watch-maker, Coleraine at the premature age of 22 years. George Harris, William LLOYD Drumreany, to Miss DANE only daughter of James DANE Esq. of Drumard On April 10, Nicholas Robert CALVERT Esq. third son of Nicholas CALVERT Esq. M. P. of Hunsdon House, Herts, to Elizabeth, eldest daughter of the Rev. Dr. BLACKER Tynan, Ireland, DEATHS At Sierra Leone, on 2nd October last, of fever, George Alcock NIXON Esq. Midshipman of H. M. S. 'Maidstone' and eldest son of the late Montgomery NIXON Esq. of Lakeview, near this town. (Enniskillen) His correct and gentle conduct obtained for him the unqualified approbation of his superior officers, while his amiable disposition engaged the esteem, not only of all on board his ship, but of the Governors and others, whose acquaintance he had acquired when in Sierra Leone. The recollection of his virtues is the only consolation left to an afflicted parent and family for the loss of so dutiful a son and affectionate brother. On the 14th instant, at her house in Stanhop street, May Fair, in the 86 year of her age, the Right Hon. Philadelphia Hannah, relict of the late Thos. Viscount Cretnorne, and Baron Dartray of the Kingdom of Ireland, Her Ladyship was the grand-daughter of Wm. PENN, Founder of Pennsylvania, in North America and was born in its capital of Philadelphia, after which city was named. Those to whom she was known will be sensible of the difficulty of delineating a character combining so peculiar a variety of attractive and endearing qualities, adapted to every order in society from the highest to the lowest. Henry, Mr. John ANDERSON, Aughnacloy, Saddler, to Miss Mary M'CONNELL of said place Dec. 29, Glanmire Church, Cork, by his father, the Rev. Doctor COGHLAN, the Rev. Charles Torton COGHLAN, of Annmount, Co. Cork, to Eliza Louisa, only daughter of Andrew CLERK, Esq. of Belmont, Co. Donegal. DEATHS At Fahan on Friday, the 1st inst. in the 40th year of his age the Rev. Francis O’FLAGHERTY, Catholic Pastor, who discharged the duties of his sacred calling in the united parishes of Fahan and Desertegney with unwearied assiduity, ever proving himself a sincere friend to the poor, and a strict upholder of the sacerdotal character. At the Infirmary Londonderry on the 19th ultimo, Jane DONNEL aged 106 years. When a girl of 15 years, she crossed the River Foyle on the ice, in 1739 (the great frost which continued for 3 months) from Glendermott, where she had purchased a wheel, which was the companion of her journey to America, 1800, from whence she returned in 1807, with the same wheel, being all her furniture, and in consequence of a fall in 1808, she became invalid, and was admitted into the infirmary, from where she has been, occasionally, an inmate up to the time of her death. Edward Reid, Ramelton, William FORSYTHE Esq. of Bernice (?) to Jane, eldest daugter of the John FULLERTON Esq. of Glencairn DEATHS On Friday last, at her house in Foyle street, Derry, Mrs BATESON, relict of the late Thomas BATESON Esq. of Derry and mother of Sir Robert BATESON Bart. aged 65. The deceased was a truly excellent lady and an ornament to society and will be deeply deplored by her family and at excessive circle of sincerely attached friends. On Tuesday morning last in the 40th year of age, Mr. John MILLER jun. stone-cutter, of this town At Dungannon on the 4th inst. at the house of his uncle, John WILSON Esq. of Perry street, Wm. A. B. WILSON, son of the late Robert Brown Esq. of Northland row aged 22 years. On the 9th inst. in the 28th year of his age, Mr. Joseph McCULLOUGH, printer, of Newry, formerly of Belfast. For the last 8 years he was employed on this establishment, during which time he was diligent, faithful, and trustworthy. Amiable in his position and inoffensive in manners, he was esteemed by his employers and respected by all who knew him. He has left a widow and 2 infant children to lament his loss. At Dieppe Sir Henry Conyngham MONTGOMERY Bart. of the Hall, Co. Donegall On Wednesday last, Mr. Danile NICHOLSON, cabinet maker, at the advanced age of 92; one of the oldest inhabitants of Belfast. During the long course of his life, he never experienced a days sickness until within a few months of his death. On the 31st. ult. Mr. Joseph M'CRORY of Ballymena, after a short illness, which he bore with Christian resignation. At his house in Ballyconnell last week, at an advanced age, George COCHRANE Esq. for many years a Supervisor of Excise. On the 3rd inst. at his house in Richmount, near Portadown after a tedious illness Mr. Thomas ROBINSON, aged 45 years, beloved and regretted by a numerous circle of friends and neighbours. On the 9th inst. at Ogles Parish of Ballinderry, Mr. Wm. Henry HOPES Londonderry Standard 25 Mar. 1837 MARRIAGE On Wednesday 22nd instant at her mother's residence in Raphoe, by the Rev. Mr. Gibson of Ballybay, John KILLEN Esq. of Ballymena to Isabella, daughter the late Rev. William RAMSAY, Presbyterian Minister of Raphoe. DEATHS On the Continent, William JOHNSTON Esq. of Magheramena, Co. Fermanagh. The circumstances attending his death are rather distressing, he, having left home, enjoying good health, for the purpose of accompanying an ailing brother (Robert) for the benefit of his health. On the 17th instant, at the residence of Edward Evans Esq. Dungannon, Colonel Dawson KELLY C. B. late Lieutenant-Colonel of the 73rd Regiment. His military course was marked by a series of important services to his country in the West Indies and Peninsular war, wherein he served on the personal staff of the Duke of Wellington and acted a conspicuous part in the glorious battle of Waterloo. As he lived beloved and esteemed by all who knew him, he died deservedly and universally regretted.
