Three events this week, and a new benefit for ACM members... **Bethesda Softworks** Wednesday, October 26 at 6:30 PM in 1121 CSIC
Come find out what skills you need to get a job and be successful in the game industry from the creators of 2002 RPG of the Year, Morrowind. We may get a sneak peek at the new game in the Elder Scrolls series, Oblivion. Learn more at bethsoft.com. Refreshments will be served. **Professor Powwow** NEW DATE: Thursday, October 27 at 5:30 PM in 1121 CSIC We encourage students who have had a particularly good or bad experience with a class to come share this with the rest of us. Find out whether your peers think your potential profs are dynamic speakers, generous with partial credit, give interesting projects, and for which classes you may need extra caffeine. We will discuss professors at all levels. Speak freely - what's said in the powwow stays in the powwow. If you'd like to make your voice heard to the administration, we can pass on comments anonymously. This session cannot replace meeting with an advisor, but can help you make more informed decisions. **UMLUG** Stick around after Thursday's ACM meeting for the UMLUG meeting at 7:00 where Rob Sherwood will discuss his security research. Pizza will be served, also in 1121. **ACM Resume Book** As a benefit of participation in ACM events, members can submit their resumes for our official resume file. Once a semester the file will be reviewed by Career Center staff, and anyone with serious errors will be referred for an appointment. This file will be made available to all employers with whom we have contact. To qualify for the resume book, you must have done at least one of the following each semester: -Come to an ACM meeting (be sure to sign in) -Be an ACM Student Member (apply through us or send us your member number for verification) -Participate in an ACM sponsored programming contest tryout -Be a volunteer at any ACM event To submit your resume, please email a copy to acmpres at cs umd edu. Plain text or PDF, use your name as the file name.
