one of our education pillars should be to provide clear instructions
what linux campus users can do to keep on working and not have to
depend on windows for example.

Apart from my VPN from a few ago, i just ran into grants.gov, having
to submit a proposal shortly. Even mac people are going to rely on
a window emulator for this to work.  To top it off, ALL of the government
(NASA, NSF etc.) is switching over to grants.gov. My proposal is in the DOE,
but it's hysterical if you read grants.gov. Even they don't know how to
handle non-Windows. Our own UMD/ORAA writup on

is better than the mac notes on grants.gov

so, this is a 2nd example of what i think should also be a focus point:
give users clear instructions or webpages with those on how to work around
such problems,
