It turns out a variant of this worked: I did `aptitude install kernel-image-2.6-686`, which works. However, I still don't understand what denotes the 'version' part of the deb file vs. the package name. Now to figure out why my wireless device isn't showing up, despite the module working and loading correctly. Thanks, - Rob .
