The Cosmic-Ray Astrophysics group at IPST
(http://cosmicray.umd.edu/homepage/) has an immediate opening for a
part-time C++ programmer/coder to assist in writing and maintaining C
and C++ programs used in our group. Experience with the Linux operating
system essential. Real-time programming experience helpful. Our group
has over 30 Linux machines and 20 Windows machines, and growing.
Computer usage in the group includes such diverse tasks as CAD
(electronics and mechanical), high energy particle physics simulations,
flight operations (at UMD as well as off-campus in Switzerland, France,
NASA facilities, in Antarctica, and in flight at the top of the
atmosphere), and the collection, analysis and backup of terabytes of
flight and accelerator beamtest data. This exciting work is at the
forefront of some of the highest priority science funded by NASA. The
successful candidate can expect a dynamic work environment as part of a
large team of researchers and students, relatively flexible hours, with
ample opportunity for expanding into other interesting work depending on
skills and interests. If you are interested in more details, please
contact Peter Walpole ([EMAIL PROTECTED], tel. 301-405-8876) or MooHyun
