Thanks, Michael
So, every 6 months -- I upgrade my laptop's copy of ubuntu. Every 6
months, I hope that I will have a graphics card that will work fully
without tweaking. This has yet to happen. This time, it seems that
ubuntu 8.04 has a new gnome-display-properties. I have a firegl-t2
graphics card in my laptop and ubuntu uses the radeon driver by
default. gnome-display-properties work properly with this driver...
except as I understand it -- this driver does not support an extended
desktop onto external monitors. As a result, I use the fglrx driver
which with ubuntu 6 and 7 i could get to work with multi monitors by
editing my xorg.conf file. However, it would be nice if i had a
graphical interface that worked.
gnome-display-properties does not function properly at all with fglrx.
So I started looking around. I cannot find a man page, a webpage, or
even a description of gnome-display-properties that is more than one
line long. Does anyone know where I can find more information on this
and potentially configure it to work with fglrx? Theres also the ati
config tool if you set up the driver manually -- but the last few
versions crash when i try to switch the monitor config.
