I'm very interested in the Debian idea. One of the things that could be made, RIGHT NOW, is the package up all the pieces of the unattended boot disk, separate from the distro itself. I would like to do some fooling with actually building a Debian package for unattended.
Splitting these files up cleanly would allow people to experiment with their own distros at their leisure. In fact, i would like to integrate this into my current FAI deployment. For instance, if installation of a Windows host was as simple as running /usr/bin/unattended, I could integrate this into my current FAI setup, which determines what OS to install on the system, OR MULTIPLE OSS, depending on entries in our central LDAP server which describes such things. ie. computerA gets Windows, and Debian, Computer B gets Windows, Computer C gets Linux. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by OSTG.
