well, sending the same parameters to parted when using 1.6.22 works if 
you use 1.8.8 fails.

So my guess is on something that changed on the "parted" side that makes 
unattedded incompatible.

i am going to test one system with 1.8.8 and get the command line that 
is passed to parted. Then repeat the same using 1.6.22 and I will 
publish the results.
