Thank you for this info! With the build system we have, some adjustments on package versions is to be expected. This is fine if we have some sensible defaults and documented exceptions. (we dont have that right now) The only reason we use perl-5.10.0 is to avoid patching perl-5.8.8 to make it compile with a newer gcc. Im not sure what strategy we should use, .. I have a the patch for perl-5.8.8 ready here, at the same time its no big issue to edit the Makefile when compiling with a newer gcc .
