Hi, we are currently building a installationsystem for >5000 workstations using PXE and Linux.
Usually the installation runs without problems: - system comes up using PXE-Boot - gets a DHCP-Adress - boots into the linux system, finds the networkcard without any problems - sends DHCP-discover - network-link comes up - sends DHCP-discover again (retry) - gets dhcp-adress - .... But sometimes the following problem accours: - system comes up using PXE-Boot - gets a DHCP-Adress - boots into the linux system, finds the networkcard without any problems - sends DHCP-discover - network-link comes up - dhcp-discover hangs for an infinite time, no retry This seems not to be a hardware-depending error, it appears with die tg3, e1000 and e1000e module. We tried 4.8 RC1-4, always the same problem. If I do "udhcp -s /etc/udhcp-scirpt eth0" manually while the master script hangs it works fine. I think udhcp runs into an infinite timeout because it uses the network-link bevor it is ready, but I don't know how to fix it. Can someone help me?
