Tagging something as a "release" could also help generate "buzz."  What
potential users see is that the latest release is 4.7 from back in 2007
and that 4.0 was released back in 2004.

Since I don't get to pick the version numbers and I'm not clear about the
pattern, I was just making one up.

Supporting a new version of windows is going to be necessary if this project is 
going to remain relevant.

I'm actually not sure that is really needed as the main ones that I'm
familiar with already support this sort of thing out of the box.
Once you get the installer started with the appropriate seeding, you're
pretty much done.
