The problem is not Unix-style line endings; this is the DJGPP version
of pico, which means it outputs CRLF like any other DOS program.

The problem is that pico *wraps* long lines by default, which is the
last thing you want when editing a script.  The "-w" flag turns this
off, and I have added it to the invocation of pico in install.pl.
