DISAGREE! If I am writing a (hopefully it is one) solution for someones problem, he gets it direct via email. But the list has to get it too (the thought of common knowledge, you know). I get the mails on the list in a daily digest. If you wrote only to the list, I would perhaps loose some hours on my work waiting for the daily digest. And if I am using this list for my problems it would not be annoying because it concerns the one who is looking for help. If you discuss just a problem (like this one) not belonging to a specific member of the list it would be careless and annoying. But remember, click "reply to all" and delete everything but the list is quicker than typing the address manually.

It fuxors up the threads. It doubles the bandwidth. It annoys the recipient(s). It's not polite as it shows that one doesn't care about the recipients - at least that my opinion, someone sending a message to a distribution list I am on and CC'ing it to me is in my opinion careless.
