I cannot agree to your criticism in every particular. For me it takes 3 hours to build a machine with WinXP, OfficeXP, all hotfixes, MS Project, OpenOffice, some browsers, many more applications, tools and special settings for our environment. But: I cannot setup a machine by hand with all these tools and settings in this time! It took more than a half day to setup this by hand. With unattended I can do other things while my machine is installing itself. You can speed up install time with a faster server and a faster network. I use a standard pc with ide disks as server and most of my network is at 10 mbit.
