I figured out what my problem is....
It was never an issue with the cd or the i386 folder. It was the drivers I added to copy over. I also believe it was the 64 character limitation described in unattended intro, setting up the server. So anyone having copy errors try removing the drivers dir or any other folders you plan on copying, then attempt to run unattened.

I'll add bad hotfix integration to the list.
If any hotfixes have been integrated, try going back to a non-patched 
disc (or one that only has service packs, not other hotfixes).
