I believe there is several things at play here.

I think I remember the MSI error from a while ago when I was using PXE-boot on
a VIA ITX board. That was a bug in the PXE code on the chip.
You can test that by booting from CD using the same build.

The "libparted-1.6.so.12 not found":
Parted 1.8.8 is in CVS now, and also in rc1.

That said: I just stumbled into it on a Thinkpad T61.
We have reinstalled a big heap of T61's with a unattended close to 4.7 patched
with nt5x-install + ntldr-fix.

Now I changed to 4.8rc1 and the first T61 is not able to boot windows.
Just a black screen with the cursor blinking in upper left corner.
(A HP desktop installed just fine)

Ok, revert to the old tested 4.7-like patched unattended
and its not able to pick up the dhcp boot options and it spits out
"libparted-1.6.so.12 not found" !!!

This make me believe that it is somehow network related..
lspci -nn says it is a "8086:2829 (rev 3)". Intel 1G NIC

What does "lspci -nn" reveal about the Dell 755 network interface?

I wish I had a good answer..
I have found that using a glibc version close to the building host works.
It does not quite add up, as for Debian Lenny i have to use 2.6.1. Lenny has
glibc 2.7.x
I believe this is because glibc is patched by the distributions in varying
forward and backwards ways..
