Thanks for the suggestion. I double checked the driver and it was the correct 
one.
On the screen I hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and got task manager and i was able to 
launch another cmd window. I checked and i was getting an IP. I tried the 
username/password for the mapping of the Z drive and it didn't work. It 
reminded me that i needed to include the <DOMAIN>\username as the username 
since i'm on a domain. Once i updated the bootdisk with that username info, it 
has started to work :). I must have missed it reading through the tutorial.
I currently still have the 'reboot for hardware changes' in the background but 
that isn't a huge deal since the updates continue to work and after the first 
reboot that goes away.
