No...I never heard this word before reading this book. I have been working
this summer with a group of 8 cracker-jack reading specialists from my
district on assessments and this word came up today. None of us had ever heard
this
word before reading Ellin's book.
Now what I want to know is how you pronounce it....time to get out MY
dictionary! :-)

PS. Now what is REALLY funny, is how attached we (this little group of
reading specialists) have all become to the word 'fervent,' which was a new
word
for many of us also. We actually used it in our final recommendations document
for our district.... LOL! :-)
