Although we all know (or should know) that the use of Variation Selectors is strictly regulated by Unicode, and they should not be used in sequences that are not specified in the Standardized Variants document, I wonder whether Variation Selectors could be used legitimately with PUA codepoints (as the use of the PUA is unregulated by Unicode) ? Just think of all the fun William could have with 256 variants of each of the 137,468 PUA codepoints - 35,191,808 characters to play with ... Andrew
