Pronounced "odium" locally. Offhand I can't think of any English placenames with a -ham suffix that don't have a silent "h" (Farnham, Fareham, Wokingham ...), although "h" is generaly pronounced in other common placename suffixes such as -hampton and -hurst. Andrew
