That web site shows a small cent sign when I view it, not a large one. I.e, see attached image. It just uses the "cent sign" character. The size will depend on your font.

Unfortunately in case of any proposed characters, web-sites can be used as evidence only in a very limited way.


If a character doesn't exist in Unicode, it can only be used as image or via special font, therefore, unless a document is found that uses an image or special font, the web can only show a fallback representation. So what we learn from this site, is -unsurprisingly- that the cent sign can be used as a fallback.
