That would presume that Phoenician and Hebrew are the same script, Doug, which they are NOT.


This seems to indicate that simply being a "font designer" in 2004 would
not be enough to favor separate encoding of Phoenician.  There would
have to be other reasons...

And, indeed, there are. It's that pesky "node" thing, that transcends language and identifies scripts.
