I have moved the previously-secret candidate Windows Unicon binaries of July 21 out onto the public Unicon website. User reports indicated that they work well. They were compiled with -g instead of -O so they are bigger than usual. They feature easy 3D graphics on systems that support OpenGL, and I think if you try to do 3D on a Windows system that *doesn't* support OpenGL, you can actually Crash Windows XP, all the way. At least, that's what happens during OpenGL initialization on my notebook. No slower software-based opengl as on linux, no blue screen, just a long delay followed by a reboot. Pretty cool. XP has been Very Stable for me otherwise.
I have uploaded some new candidate Windows binaries to the unpublished website, the main differences being -Os space optimization and an 8MB maximum stack size on the virtual machine binaries. Since changing from -g to -Os might affect stability, I'll wait until these are tested before installing them on the public website. An 8MB stack is still not big enough to garbage collect a heap that consumes all of virtual memory with one or more superdeep structures, so this topic is not entirely finished on Windows. Please report any problems to me. I will try to update the source distribution later this week.
