Dear Friends,
Some of our peer languages have a presence on rosettacode.org, an
interesting site where the solutions to many problems are
written in many languages for convenient comparison. I added Unicon there
yesterday, and rather than have just one or two of
us writing all the little programs and code snippets, I would like to invite
everyone to contribute there. From my point of view,
the rosettacode.org presence will provide valuable marketing for the
language, because many people who visit there and see
many languages side by side will see some of Unicon's advantages.
While we are at it, as a courtesy to our parent language, we might want to
look at the Icon solutions to some of the problems;
some of them we can use as-is for Unicon, and for others, we might suggest
shorter/cleaner/more idiomatic solutions for the
Icon entries. For example, I looked at their entry for infinite loop, and it
worked, but a repeat expression would be better.
