a total aside from this thread. We have been members here for about
three years owning a 31' 1970 gorgeous uniflite which we have made to
look like a cruise cabin with tongue and groove teak on the walls, etc.
etc. We are in the Annapolis area and are looking to be liveaboards
being in our sixties and having lost our minds according to our kids,
but not the grandkids. Anyway, does anyone know of a great buy in the
nearby Chesapeake area.....we would appreciate it very much. found a
pacemaker, but when we knew that the same design is possible in a uni,
that's what we want....46 + three cabin......HELP. Lynn and Irene

I am in the Atlanta area, so no help on where to go in Seattle. What
I did though was to take the windows out myself and carry them to the
local glass shop. Mine already has SS frames, but aluminum tracks.
What I did was to have the glass shop order all new track and rubber/
felt for the sliding parts. He ordered a standard part and the cost
for the track and felt for all the windows wad less than $150. If you
tru to find the exact width of what is in there now the price gets
rediculous.

I would imagine that the SS frames will not be too bad, as SS frames
are a regular item in most glass shops. Make sure you ask them to
weld the seams at the corners and not to glue them. For some reason
on my frames all but one of them had welded seams. Guess where the
most rot was????

The total for the rebuild of my windows using the existing glass for
the salon windows, (except one broken one) and replacing the glass in
the small lights is going to be less than $1k.
