Jack - You lucky dog. That's one of my two dream boats (the other would be the 47 fiberglass Chris Craft Commander, if I could find the right one). Regarding your fuel tank, can you trace the route of the fill hose? And are you absolutely positive that it's a fuel tank, and not fresh or waste water tank, perhaps one that's been decommissioned? I'm thinking that if it's a fuel tank, and it's the lowest one and not directly filled from a deck fitting, there would have to be some sort of fuel feed line to the engines (through that valve you mentioned?). The thing is, if it fills from one or more of the other tanks, I'm don't see how they would valve the fuel feed to that and the other tank or tanks it's connected to; because if you draw off that tank, it would first drain the other tank(s), and you'd run a greater risk of air-locking your fuel system (I assume you've got diesels?). That just doesn't make much sense.
I guess what I'd do would be to try to trace every line in and out of the tank to see where it comes from and goes to. Maybe there's a fuel tranfer pump somewhere. It sounds like an unusual installation, but I'm not an expert on the 48's. Still a little jealous, though. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "UnifliteWorld" group.
