In another thread, Kerry said: Boat Swap Meets? Cool! I haven't seen anything like that out here. Craigslist and Ebay are the biggest swap meets I know of in the PNW for boating.
Kery The two I know of offhand are the Des Moines Yacht Club annual swap meet in early March, and the spring and fall biggies at Fisheries Supply (sponsored by 48 North Magazine) - usually early in April and early in September. The Chris-Craft club has a swap meet as part of the annual Chris-Craft Rendezvous in Port Orchard (July 9 to 12 this year). There's also an annual one in Portland and Port Townsend. Do a google search with the terms Northwest Boat Swap Meet. The Fisheries meet has turned into Midnight Madness. It starts at 0800, but people arrive in the middle of the night to be the first in. I learned why a few years ago: I walked in about 0805, and saw a guy with a couple of old outboard motors; one was a 10 hp Chris-Craft Commander from the 1950's. These are real collectibles and worth beaucoups dinero to the Chris-Craft nuts, much like we'd pay a fortune for a genuine Uniflite outboard for our tenders, had Uni ever built an outboard. And let's face it, we all know the Chris-Craft guys are nutcases. Anyway, I asked the seller how much he wanted, and he said a hundred bucks. I just about had a stroke. Then he said another guy had just bought it and had gone to the ATM to get cash. I just about had a stroke. Definitely, definitely recommend the 48 North swap meet. That's also where Fisheries sells a lot of their scratch-and-ding stuff; I got a double-basin stainless steel galley sink for $45 bucks with a slightly bent flange (list price $250). I just Googled it but didn't see a date for this September. I'll let y'all know if/when I hear. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "UnifliteWorld" group.
