Boy, I wish this had come up a year ago. I measured the chain on my 42' and the dia of the link material was 3/8". So, I bought 200 feet of 3/8" BBB chain from Defender Industries. It turned out to be too big! I bought the wrong chain and I had to find someone to sell it to, which I did. Anyway, my Ideal windless manual specified 5/16" chain which measures 3/8" . Oh well, live and learn. BTW, I not only took a big loss on the chain but it was very hard to move around -- as you know, it's heavy! DavidO
