I replaced mine two years ago and used a high temp silicone and it worked great. You are supposed to replace risers every ten years or so if used in salt water and a little longer if used in freshwater. When I took mine off and checked them over they were just about to ruin my engine. If they rust through they will cause engine failure. rich
