Monty, However you remove the impeller make sure you do not scratch or ding the inside of the pump housing the impeller. Very soft material in there. I agree with The Capt. lube lube lube. Also check the rotation of the pump I believe the vanes should be bent opposite to the rotation. Think pushing the water into the engine. CNO Bill 38 Uni x

When an impeller gives up it may have a few other problems. I have one that is going through a major rebuild. The shaft bearing gave up causing the shaft to spin inside the bearing. If that was not enough then the outer seal assembly gave up and although the pump was still pumping it was spraying water into the bilge at a alarming rate. I had purchased a spare pump some time back but when trying to install it would not fit the pedestal. Both sides of the base needed to be milled to fit the pedestal so that it could be adjusted for proper belt tension. There are Jabsco pump diagrams online at Jabsco marine circulation pumps. It may be easier to remove pump and check shaft bearing and seals prior to installation. NOTE: It may be difficult to see a leaking pump with the belt guards on. Hope this is clear and not confusing.
