Same boat. Original props are 3-bladed, 17x17 cupped. Ran right up to 4000+, depending upon weight and bottom condition. Replaced 440s back in the mid 80s with 460s, same transmissions and props. Ran 42-4400. Will be replacing these with 454s this winter.
I think the cupping is what makes these props work.
