I think you will find that the mahogany is teak with a Watco oiled finish, that is, unless a prior owner restained it. I simply applied the Watco with a foam brush and let it dry. Not to heavy or it will run and sag. If you have some discolored or water stained areas, you will have to sand them gingerly and then build up the coats of oil.
