One thing I can tell you is the pencil zincs on engines, raw water pumps and
heat exchangers are very distinctive looking if you look closely. If they
have never been changed they may be painted. When you find a head that looks
different than a bolt head and sticks out a little and not flush with the
surface it is on, scratch the paint off. If it is brass in color than it
proberly is a zinc. You may also have several different sizes on your engine

Look for zinc heads that take a 7/8" wrench. There may also be some smaller
ones on heat exchangers

Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like I will be making a run back to the
fitting ship. I bought all 3/8" fittings and valves yesterday. Doh! By
the way, I have the Detroit 71 service manuals and they dont list that
anywhere that I could find. You wouldn't have a list of the zincs for that
engine too would ya?

Thanks,

Kerry

Can anyone tell me the diameter needed for the fuel lines for the Detroit
6-71's? I want to finish up my electric primer pump and fuel polishing
installs next weekend and need to know what size brass fittings I will need
to buy.

Thanks,

Kerry
