The zincs are very important to keep fresh. When they go the rest of the metals begin to corrode rapidly. I would have an experienced diver check and change them. I am not sure that cost. It might be worth it to apply it to a haul out. When the boat is hauled you can have other things checked as well. The cutlass bearings on the shaft are very important to check. Also the props may have some minor dings which can cause vibration damage. I have my boat hauled every other year (I'm in fresh water 95% of the time) for a bottom cleaning, paint, and zinc change.At that time I also have a very experienced guy check all my running gear. I dive myself and inspect in the odd years.
It will be $300-$400 for the haulout and about the same for the bottom painting. I always do the zincs myself and they run about $100.
