We had out 46 recarpetted throughout. There as a lot of expensive carpet and we had a marine installer do it. They know how to take into account not using thousands of carpet tacks, using templates to get exact fit, removing ladders, helm chair etc, cutting hatches with no seams, and in how to select and install the correct padding. We are very pleased. This very straight forward upgrade can make a very nice boat look great instead of just throwing something in. My installer said NOT to spend money on waterproof padding. Install a good quality breathable pad so if it gets wet....it will dry out. The waterproof absorbs water around the edges and does not let it out. It will eventually rot corners and edges that you don't pay attention too.

Then your mistakes are on that and not your new carpet. Since I have time I can give it a try. Worse case is I am out my time and wreck a few yds of carpet,.... then I call in the pros. I installed engineered hardwood flooring in the front half of the boat 2 yrs ago and it turned out well- after a learning experience. Part of the fun now is doing and learning myself. And anyway, I have no experience robbing banks either. The consequences of screwing that up are much greater. Thanks for the fun comment.
