I guess you will not be boating near me in Boston MA, HA, HA. Whatever engines you buy make sure there is a good engine parts support system close to you. A good example is Mann Engines; Mann Engines do not have a good support system in Mass. The engines are good engines, but most parts have to be ordered and shipped in. In a short boating season we have here you could loose the rest of the boating season because of a down engine waiting for parts. On the other hand, Detroit and Cummins has a great support system in Mass as well as mechanics that are familiar repairing them. Capt. They are much lighter than the 671's and very clean, no oil in your bulge. Cummins has a good support system around the country and you would not have any trouble getting parts or service. I do not know where your boat is but having the engine dealer near you is VERY important. Look into Cummins rebuilt engine program, very completive prices and much cheaper than a new engine with a good warranty. You should not have any problem changing to a newer style engine because of the smaller size compared to the old 671's Capt.
