TRACE--two years ago I had a year old electronic distributer go bad.   The chip
or whatever is enclosed in the plastic part went bad.  The englne was
backfiring and running very rich and when I would start it the whole basin
behind me would be covered in floating black soot.  Timing just wondered around
and finally I could not get it to fire anymore at all.   Hal

Thanks for the opinions guys, Last year I did change from points to a drop in
electronic ignition conversion kit. I am gonna check it all out this week now
that it has warmed up a bit here. The engines have about 60 hrs. since a major
rebuild.

I'll keep ya all posted on what I find.

I am thinking too hot a plug? Bad coil? I am using ACDelco R45TS in a
Crusader 350.

If there still is one, a bad Capacitor will make the plugs burn.
