TRACE--two years ago I had a year old electronic distributer go bad. The chip or whatever is enclosed in the plastic part went bad. The englne was backfiring and running very rich and when I would start it the whole basin behind me would be covered in floating black soot. Timing just wondered around and finally I could not get it to fire anymore at all. Thanks for the opinions guys, Last year I did change from points to a drop in electronic ignition conversion kit. I am gonna check it all out this week now that it has warmed up a bit here. The engines have about 60 hrs. since a major rebuild. I'll keep ya all posted on what I find. Trace On Wed, Jan 19, 2011 at 3:24 AM, Den < [email protected] > wrote: I am thinking too hot a plug?
