The Ross Kelly system also allows you to use swim deck

One thing I forgot. The Seawise is the only system I know which allows you to
continue to exit and enter from the swim step - at least on one side. This has
been a great help to my crew (wife) who can stand on the swimstep when we come
into one of the newer low riding concrete docks. I also had a bow thruster
installed which helps me stay next to the dock while she leisurely ties us up.
I only use it when I have to since I consider it a cop out to good seamanship.
Incredibly helpful sometime however. Good luck.

You're correct, Hurley.

Good suggestions. I'll look into the resources link.

Yes, my 46 Unifilite afterdeck resembles the Pacemaker 46, except that it is a
hard enclosed pilothouse. But the davit mounting challenges would be similar -
no aft rail to mount the davit.

Did you mean Hurley?

http://www.hurleymarine.com/

It looks like it carries the dinghy right on the swimstep, which is pretty
close to water level. You might have to tilt the motor up to keep its lower
unit out of the water when underway. Having it that close to the water would
make me nervous in any kind of following sea.

I chose a system that keeps the dinghy in its normal attitude, with the motor
down. Mine is a lightweight system from Forespar because my boat & motor weigh
less than 300 pounds. The whole setup is mounted to the transom, and the
davits can be rotated or removed when the dinghy's in the water.

Your 46 is an aft cabin sundeck boat, right? Just like the Pacemaker 46?
Davits that mount to the afterdeck would get the dinghy well out of the water.
I searched Yachtworld and found just one pic of a 46 Pacemaker with a dinghy -
it's the last pic in this listing:

http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1977/PacemakerTricabin-Moto...--2547129/Seattle/WA/United-States#.UkIxYtLrxFs

The total weight of the boat, motor & gear will be the determining factor,
regardless of what type of davit you decide on. If it's fairly light, maybe
this would work:

There are lots of choices, and lots of vendors. Here's a resource:

Good luck!

Looking to install a dinghy davit system to the swim platform of my 46'
Uniflite. Any recommendations from happy satisfied owners?

Does anyone have the Harley Davit system? It looks nice, but I don't know
anyone with experience with this system. I like the fact that the engine stays
on the dinghy. Removes the hassle of wrestling with my 9.9 HP O/B.

Any help greatly appreciated.
