Dear Neighbors,

The College Art Association will be meeting in Philadelphia February
20-24 (Wed-Sun). As a number of other professional associations who are
trying to encourage student attendance and participation, the Student
Committee of the organization is trying to find housing for student
members with local residents. The usual call for spare bedrooms or extra
couches to schools and other channels has provided fewer spots than the
number of students interested in local housing.
Since West Philadelphia has a large number of members of academic
communities who might be sympathetic to the idea, and West Philadelphia
houses tend to have spare bedrooms, I thought I might put a call for
volunteers among our community. This involves providing a place to stay
for a graduate student of art or art history coming to attend their
convention at the Convention Center February 20-24. Students are in
charge of transportation and meal expenses.
If you have a spare room, couch and would be willing to make it
available, please let either myself or the person organizing this (Becca
Albee <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>), know of your willingness.
I have enjoyed the hospitatity of wonderful people in other cities with
similar arrangements and hope we can help. I am looking forward to
housing four people and probably will take a couple more willing to
crash on our downstairs sofa.
Thank you for your attention to this request.
