Discussions are clearer and more productive when the personal is kept out,
thanks to some guy called Argumentum ad Hominem. Could you elaborate on why you
don't think the 2 situations are at all worth comparing, and why it is a silly
argument? For my part, I thought it was pretty interesting, and a scenario I'd
never thought of before. I'm not in one camp or another, and that's of limited
relevance anyway.

Since the personal has already entered the conversation, I'd like to attempt to
cancel out the negative by sharing my very limited but very positive experience
working with Melani so far, for what it's worth. She's showed me one house,
being sold through her company, and was diligent, brutal actually, in her
critique of the house as we were walking through. She pointed out flaws and
characteristics I never would have picked up and I left feeling better educated
and more aware, although there's not a chance in hell I'll buy the house, at
least at its current price. We discussed neighborhood dynamics for a while and
her explanations were interesting, informed, and thorough, as she explained
avantages and disavantages for people on both sides of each situation we
discussed. I short, although I'm not sure i agree with her stance on HD, she
gained my trust.

I still think it's possible to disagree without without disliking, and in a
community this small, fact-sharing and fair discussion works a lot better than
smearing and rhetoric, although effective and passionate discussion help too,
and I hesitate to lump that with rhetoric per se. Sure would be nice to drop
the fighting and side-taking and discuss without agenda once in a while. All
these opinions coming through are valid concerns, and cooperation would
integrate everyone's interests a lot better than digging foxholes. Assuming, of
course the question is still an open discussion, not an administrative
inevitability.
