Magill writes in part:

So don't complain when the house next door to you is filled with noisy
partying folks who dump their trash on the sidewalks... After all, they
were never consulted about those laws, never voted for them, and
neither did you.

But you can sleep easy -- our Mayor will soon be Governor and he'll cut
property taxes just like he cut the City Wage Tax one tenth of one
percent over 5 years.
B.F.D. And the good news will be -- without a Historic District to
depress property values we can all look forward to our taxes doubling
while he cuts property taxes.

Duh...

Well, there's already plenty of people in our neighborhood who do just that -
party loud, dump their trash all over (we're ALWAYS picking up - like daily)
and I don't see how HD will help that. As far as being an HD depressing
property values and I believe from your observation not increasing taxes,
just look at an HD like Society Hill where they're seeing between 100% to
300% increases in their property taxes. I'm not sure what taxes you're
speaking of. I've never heard of a Historic District actually depressing
property values, rather seems to inflate them. I believe it's called
gentrification.

Oh, and sorry, I didn't get the chance to even go to Civics Class let alone
sleep through it. I was too busy trying to make enough of a living to have a
roof over my head.

I was stating my opinion on the subject, as we are all entitled to do - I
think that is democracy?

"If you believe that making this a Councilmanic "Political" decision is
better than an Independent Commission... and that you will EVER be
"polled" let alone listened to by the Politician involved, I've got a
war in Iraq you can enlist in. (I also have a number of very nice
Bridges I can sell you shares in.)"

The best way to be listened to by a politician is to vote, am I right on
that? And politics is pretty much the same, from the President on down, so
Phillly isn't all that special or different in that respect, at least IMHO.

The Duh... and references to Iraq (opposed to, ok?) and the Bridges I do take
personally and not appreciated.

Can't we all just agree to disagree?

Think I'll be going back into lurk mode, as having an opposing opinion seems
to not be a very good idea.
