They make mistakes. You may have to go down and see them. We were once
ticketed for trash that had actually been put out by our next-door neighbor.
I drew a sketch of the site (our trashcans adjoin at the property line),
went down and made my case. I called first and explained the error, in an
organized and non-confrontational manner, identifying my citation number.
The first person I spoke with referred me to a second person. I brought in
my evidence to that person and the ticket was pleasantly voided. It didn't
take long. If your canceled check shows you paid within the statutory
timeframe you should be okay.
