Here's my point. I ride my bike whenever the weather is nice with my 3 year old on the back. We wear helmets. I prefer to ride in the street but find it impossible around Penn to do that without risking life and limb so I ride on the pavement with my kid. I don't go fast, 4-7 mph, but I don't want to get a citation for protecting my daughter from the real inadequacies of the Penn police. I will fight any ticket I receive for riding on the pavement with my kid on the back when the bike lane is blocked on either side of Spruce st.
Hey Penn, try this: eliminate all parking on Spruce St. Make the entire stretch from 38th to 34th, ambulance, loading and taxis only. And enforce it! I also drive with a license and insurance and proper registration and I am a Philly driver.
