About the old insurance building: My son attended a Parenting program for young fathers there. He also had a case manager/social worker who met there with him once a month. I think there are also probation officers for teen offenders in there, among many othe things. It is currently underused. (I am speaking of the old insurance building. My aunt worked there for years when it was Provident Mutual Insurance Co.)
I don't know who intends to purchase and rehab the YSC building, or where the Center will move to, nor what purpose the new tenants will have for the YSC.. But I do certainly hope the Youth Study Center finds a new home somewhere. As a city/contract employee, my job has taken me in there twice this last year. The building has not been improved upon in many years, and is in a very dilapidated state. I have seen some sections that have not seen so much as a drop of paint in many years, and the paint currently peeling is a sad prison gray/municipal green. It is the most dilapidated, depressing city building I have seen, worse even than 500 S. Broad, District Health Center #1. ---- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to the list named "UnivCity."
