This topic was thoroughly discussed a number of months ago so you might want to check the archives. Based upon the recommendations made on the listserve, we took our car to Ray at Sammy's (routine inspection, emissions, oil change, etc). He passed the car without requiring any work. I would recommend Sammy's.

He keeps our 17 year old car going! He has is also excellent with foreign cars. Also good is Wayne's on the 4500 block of Springfield. Among my least favorites are the mechanics to the west of "Sammy's" including the gas station at the sec of 46th and Baltimore. I have never used them, but they treat the neighborhood badly with their ugly storage and abuse of sidewalks and nearby parking. Good Luck!
