[UC] Advice on removing paint from stone

Hi, I'm planning to remove some paint from the stone on my front porch, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience on the best way to do it.  I expect it to be labor-intensive and to involve wire brushes.  But are there any chemicals--preferably green!--that would help?  Would a heat gun be useful?  Thanks,     Andrew
