You might want to try The Library Company on the southwest corner of
13th & Locust Streets. It is my understanding that they have some of
the oldest, most historical material relating to Colonial Philadelphia
and before. If I'm wrong, it won't be the first or last time.

We have traced our Kauffman family's first immigrant back to the late 1700's here in
Philly. I'd love to find documentation such as passenger lists, etc., but have no
idea where to begin. We have the person's name and the year of arrival, but no ship
name.
