Good grief Wilma,

Of course, I would hope that we all agree with you about the importance
of children and the importance of their nurturing. We just don't follow
through in our social policies, or any other policies. Maybe the
improvement will take many more centuries. We are still nowhere near
enlightenment.

Dear Monique and Sande,

Actually I do not disagree that children are the future and need nurturing
from everyone. That is why I am in the business that I am.

As I write this post several kids are with me right now who would rather
bring their lunch to my room and talk with me than go out for recess. They
are here before school and after school. They always want to help and talk
with me. They like the attention and the fact that they know EXACTLY what I
stand for at all times. It's a source of consistency and stability for
them.

What I disagree with is the "fetish-tization" of children, childhood and
their importance and how noble people are for giving birth to them and how
patently selfish and cruel those of us are who do not have children.

Especially given the fact that so many kids go wanting and the hyper-
touchiness of many parents about the fact that their children are not
perfect and may need guidance from sources other than themselves.

I can and do ante up as well as the next person, but I want my say in my
"investment". Just call it my version of "pay-to-say".

Thanks for writing.

Wilma
